Latest numbers show that up to 80% of instagram users follow business accounts, which has made instagram one of the strongest marketing platforms in our era.
The strongest instagram accounts have a heap of similarities, from identifiable names to profile pictures to content strategies yet each of them having their own identity.
In this blog we will break down the necessary components to have a successful and recognizable instagram account.
First and foremost you have to know the identity of your brand and base your account on that identity. How do you build that identity? Be our guest to introduce the steps.
1- Public Account
You have to have your account set as a public account, otherwise the identity won’t show, and your account will be as unrecognizable as an introvert at a party. Public accounts allow everyone to have access to your account’s content which is basically the main point for marketing through Instagram.
2- Recognizable Name
You need an easily searchable name to ensure your account is accessed with no difficulty. Most recommended name is your business’ name. There might be a bumper there, some other account could be already using that name. In that case you want to make sure that you use your business’ name in the first part of the account’s name. For example Australian active wear “line Lorna” Jane uses the @lornajaneactive username.
3- Identifiable Profile Picture
Your account’s profile picture is the round icon that will be most commonly seen. The profile icon does not just appear in your own account page but it also appears above all of your posts, it acts as a gateway to the stories you post, and even during communications through direct messaging or commenting. So your profile picture must be highly associated with your business, possibly a logo, which should also be consistent with your profile pictures on other platforms. This is to be on-brand and consistent.
The profile picture must be eye catching, “cool”, and most importantly in high resolution.
4- Informative Bio
Like your profile photo, your "Bio" (that is, the written information at the top of your profile) is one of the first items that tourists will see in your profile. You have a limit of 150 characters: Use them to let people know what you are about and give them a reason to follow you. Include who you are and what you are doing, and add a touch of personality, like an exclusive or a commonly used hashtag like #LivePostively or any other hashtag that describes the overall identity of your account. Here is an example of our “Bio” on Instagram.
5- Link in Bio
You can add your business’ website’s link from settings, and it is highly advised to change the link you are using regularly. You can change it from your websites’ link to links to other platforms.
6- Turn On Your Notifications
Go to "Settings" before you call it a day to make sure notifications are on so you can see whether people are sharing or commenting on your content.
7- High Quality Photos
You’ve probably heard the phrase “if you have anything nice to say, don’t say anything” well the same applies for Instagram. If you don’t have a beautiful photo to post, then don’t post at all.
There are 3 steps to keep your feed interesting and on-brand.

Step 1: Have a Subject
Think about your buyer’s persona when choosing a subject. What would attract them in a photograph? Coca-Cola's target market includes young people who value fun, friendship, and sports, for example. That's why they post pictures of young people doing fun, adventurous things— like DJing at a concert, or snowboarding on a beautiful day. (With bottles of Coke in hand, of course.
Step 2: Have a Perspective
Take some time to learn best practices, such as lining up the targets in the photo, seeking interesting perspectives and using rhythm, patterns, and more. You can also use creative vectors and animations like CocaCola.
Step 3: Keep Editing
Instagram’s editing options are very limited, so you have to use professional editing apps and softwares beforehand in order to make sure you have the best photos.
8- Post regularly
In order to stay consistent, and start posting regularly, you can download social media calendar templates in order to easily follow up and post on time. When to post? Research shows that many people interact more with content during off-work hours than during working hours. Mondays and Thursdays were shown to be the very best times to post on Instagram at any time except between 3:00–4:00 p.m. Keep in mind that these times must be adjusted to your target audience’s time zone. Global franchises would usually prefer the Eastern European timing.
